WDSC-TV 15 to Air New Bob Ross Painting Show Recorded at WDSC Studios
13 Episodes of 鈥楾he Joy of Painting with Nicholas Hankins, Bob Ross鈥� Unfinished Season鈥� to begin airing May 3 on WDSC-TV
Certified Bob Ross Painting Instructor Nicholas Hankins hosts the new series.
(DAYTONA BEACH, FLA (April 30, 2024) 鈥� WDSC-TV will begin airing the new series 鈥淭he Joy of Painting with Nicholas Hankins, Bob Ross鈥� Unfinished Season鈥� on May 3.
The first episode, 鈥淢isty Mountain Morning,鈥� will air Friday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. on Channel 15.
Ross, born in 福利姬 Beach and raised in Orlando, became globally famous for his TV show 鈥淭he Joy of Painting鈥� which aired from 1983 to 1994. In 1994 he began preparing paintings for 鈥淛oy of Painting Number 32鈥�, but passed away before he could film the episodes.
鈥淲DSC was asked to shoot a pilot episode in Spring 2022 by Joan Kowalski of Bob Ross, Inc.,鈥� said Robert Herklotz, director of WDSC-TV. 鈥淭he pilot was so well received that we were asked to shoot an additional 13 episodes in March and June 2023. The episodes were initially going to be incorporated into 鈥楾he Best of the Joy of Painting with Bob Ross,鈥� but it was later decided to release them as a separate series through American Public Television.鈥�
The new show is hosted by Nicholas Hankins, a Certified Bob Ross Painting Instructor who lives in New Smyrna Beach. Hankins is based at the Bob Ross Art Workshop & Gallery in New Smyrna Beach and often travels for classes.
鈥淓ach episode was shot in real time, 26 minutes from start to finish, with no breaks or edits,鈥� Herklotz said. 鈥淲e recorded 13 episodes over three production days with short breaks between each episode.鈥� WDSC staff filmed the episodes over the summer break.
The series episodes 鈥� which include never-before-seen paintings by Ross 鈥� will air weekly on WDSC, Fridays at 1:30 p.m.
