
Melanie McDonough
Assistant Chair
Melanie McDonough serves as the Assistant Chair / Program Director of the A.S. Respiratory
Care Program and the B.S. Cardiopulmonary Science Program.
She began her career as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Advent Health Orlando
with a Bachelor’s degree in Cardiopulmonary Sciences from the University of Central
Florida. She then earned her Master’s degree in Health Sciences with a concentration
in Education from the University of Central Florida and began her career in academics
as an adjunct faculty member for several state colleges and universities before her
full time position at ¸£Àû¼§ State.
She maintains her FL Registered Respiratory Therapist license and is active in both
the American Association for Respiratory Care and the Florida Society for Respiratory
Care. She has served as President of the FSRC and remains involved with the annual
seminar committee. She has published articles in peer reviewed journals and presented
at the state conference on multiple occasions. She participates in educational programs
to enhance her teaching skills and is actively involved in student advising, student
club activities, program accreditation and curriculum development.
Her interest and primary passion is student learning and engagement.
